vhf_
ambient transmissions / degraded memories
vhf_ is an ambient project by Alexey Kuznetsov, built from tape hiss, analogue synthesis, late-night broadcasts, degraded recordings and blurred memories.
The project explores what remains after a signal loses its source: fragments of sound, memory and information suspended somewhere between transmission and disappearance.
TRANSMISSION LOG / 01
Some signals arrive intact.
Others lose pieces of themselves along the way.
A melody becomes noise.
A voice becomes texture.
A recording becomes a memory of something that may never have happened.
vhf_ treats music as recovered material: signals captured, damaged, archived and transmitted again.
Analogue synthesizers, lo-fi piano, drum machines, guitar fragments, field recordings and cassette degradation form an unstable archive in which every sound appears to have a history before it is heard.
ARCHIVE / 02
Fragments from the same evolving archive.
ABOUT / 03
vhf_ is an independent ambient music project created by Alexey Kuznetsov.
The sound combines analogue synthesizers, tape processing, lo-fi piano, drum machines and occasional guitar with an interest in degraded media, memory, radio transmission and archival sound.
The project is not intended as retro nostalgia for its own sake. Old media, radio frequencies, cassette noise and technical artifacts are used as a language for memory: information gradually changing as it is stored, recalled and retransmitted.
